The length of time for the surgery to receive your test results is dependent on what test you have. Most test results are available within a week. You can telephone the practice for your results, although you would normally be contacted if there is any follow up action needed.
Our reception staff are not clinicians. They are unable to advise you on what your test results mean. They can only pass on the doctor’s comments.
Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
Getting your test results
If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your Patient Access account
- by phoning us on 01744 621670 and we will tell you what the results are once they have been reviewed by a GP.

Alternatively, blood testing is available by appointment only with Julie, our healthcare assistant Wednesday and Friday mornings.
Please note – You may be requested to provide a fasting sample. Fasting means nothing to eat or drink, except water, for 12 hours before your test; however it is important to make sure you continue to drink plenty of water whilst you are fasting.
If we have asked you to make a routine appointment for a blood test please note that ‘routine’ means any time in the next month or so.
Your blood test results should be available within a week. You can phone the practice for your results although the doctors comment on all results and if there is any follow up action needed we will contact you.
